Fine Arts of Engineering

BALTIMORE – The Hyatt Regency Baltimore recently held its Corporate Meeting for Directors of Rooms & Engineering here, and the onsite PSAV team received glowing reviews from attendees, hotel staff and hotel guests for their creative use of truss throughout the hotel.

Five immaculately designed truss structures embellished the event space, including three in the atrium and two in the general session. The team utilized staggered height LED truss towers in the reception area that had everyone buzzing with excitement.

“Unique, different, colorful and spectacular were just a few of the adjectives guests and attendees used to describe these fixtures,” said PSAV Director of Event Technology Brett Nix.

Prior to the event, the hotel staff was uncertain about what they wanted. PSAV’s Project Manager Julie Fredrickson and Nix proposed the idea of using the cost-effective truss art as a way to make a sizable visual impact to the engineers.

“Engineers love truss. It isn’t a look you can do very often, but it is highly effective in the right environment,” said Fredrickson.

After a touch of skepticism by the technicians in the beginning, the crew ultimately had a great time creatively designing the sculptures.

“I must admit I was surprised at the response to the sculptures,” said Fredrickson. “Everyone raved about them.”
