Rocking Out at the USS Midway

SAN DIEGO— In mid-August, PSAV Event Technology Specialist Ken Syson was awarded the “Token of Appreciation” by nonprofit software company Tessitura for his exceptional work at its conference on the flight deck of the storied USS Midway Museum.

PSAV put on a show for more than 1500 art administrators with audio, lighting and video services. Seven technicians, including Syson, and a project manager teamed up to set up a EAW KF650 sound system, a Yamaha LS9-32 that was controlled by the StageMix mobile app, four lighting trees with pars and lekos, Color Charge wireless LEDs for up-lighting, a 9-foot by 16-foot screen and an Analog Way Pulse 300.

For five days, attendees participated in breakout sessions, presentations, networking events and were treated to performances by a rock band on the last day.

“This event was different from all the other events I’ve worked at because it was on a flight deck of an aircraft carrier,” said Syson. “We received great feedback from many attendees and our client.”
