The legendary West Coast resort and spa transitioned to PSAV in May to bring provider consistency, new technologies and exceptional service to the ‘Del’
Long Beach, Calif. — August 23, 2012 —In May 2011, PSAV took over managing the onsite event technology services at the Hotel Del Coronado, an iconic Victorian resort and spa near San Diego. Due to PSAV’s proven track record of providing exceptional service to the Del’s sister properties, and in order to deliver consistency in service and equipment across the enterprise, corporate management determined it was time to upgrade its onsite event technology services.
“PSAV had some pretty big shoes to fill when they arrived at the Del in May,” said the hotel’s Director of Conference Services and Catering Sales Chris Ong. “We knew of PSAV’s reputation, and understood why the change was being made, but we had also formed a solid bond with the previous company. It didn’t take long, however for PSAV’s Director of Event Technology to win over our team, and he has already fostered an enviable relationship with most of our staff.”
“The transition to PSAV was incredibly smooth,” she said. “One of the major advantages of the transition was that PSAV brought completely new equipment to the facility, which is by far the most up-to-date and high-tech gear we have ever seen. It has really enhanced the overall presentation of events, and our customers are thoroughly impressed. The [AV] department has been very successful, and we attribute it to the tremendous job the PSAV team does consulting with customers to achieve their meeting goals with PSAV services and equipment.
“In addition to new event technology, PSAV also brought with it expertise to manage our property’s broadband services,” Ong said.
“Being an older property, we previously had Internet issues. Now that PSAV is managing the high-speed Internet for guestrooms as well as meeting rooms, all issues have been resolved. When an event plans for more bandwidth, PSAV is able to pull what is needed from other areas to support the group and re-allocate it back when the meeting concludes for the day.
